In recent years, rapid growth of the wire and pipe industry in China has replaced Japan as the world's second largest country of wire and cable industry. China's electric wire & cable industry has witnessed rapid development over the past years amid sustainable economic growth. At present, it has become the global leader by consumption of copper and aluminum, the fundamental raw materials for production of electric wires & cables.
The various kinds of wires and cables are required in large quantity for Chinese projects such as Electric Power Supply, Transportation, Tele-communication and Energy Resource. According to the electric power market analysis data in 2007, the total of electric power has gone up from 11％ to 12.5% and reached to a hundred million of 31800Kw-h. The number of 1000MW nuclear power generation system will be 27 before 2020, but the total number of 1000MW nuclear power generation system has increased to 40. The rate of nuclear power will go up from 1.8% to 4%. The China Nuclear Industry Group hopes that the average rate of domestic equipment will reach to 60%. At present, all K3 1E class cables can be made by domestic manufacturers absolutely and K1 1E class cables have been developed successfully for further evaluation in all respects.
Growth of China Electric Power Industry will build 10 transformer substations in Beijing and 5 wind electric substations in Shandong Province. China will increase its power generating capacity by 35-40 million kilowatts between 2002 and 2020, and the power generation will grow 10% year by year, and it has seen a fast development of its economy during Olympic Games 2008 and World Expo 2010 in Shanghai, with the wire and cable industry maintaining a stable growth. The Olympic Games 2008 Beijing and World Expo 2010 Shanghai has brought about both challenges and opportunities for the national economy and the wire & cable industry.
